Private bookkeeping for rental properties and investments, with your Form 1040 and CT-1040 ready to print.

Install on Windows

  1. Click Start, type PowerShell, and press Enter. A blue or black window opens.
  2. Copy this line, paste it into that window (Ctrl+V or right-click), and press Enter:
    irm https://updates.decaro.net/install.ps1 | iex
  3. Wait a few minutes. It installs Python if needed, then Bookkeeper. It adds a Bookkeeper icon to your desktop and opens Bookkeeper in your web browser.

Install on a Mac

  1. Press Command+Space, type Terminal, and press Return.
  2. Copy this line, paste it into Terminal (Command+V), and press Return:
    curl -fsSL https://updates.decaro.net/install.sh | bash
  3. If Python's installer opens, click Continue, Agree, and Install. Type your Mac password if asked, then click Close. Bookkeeper then finishes installing, adds a Bookkeeper icon to your desktop, and opens.

Prefer to install by hand?

Download Bookkeeper.zip

Unzip it, then double-click Start Bookkeeper for your computer (Windows or Mac). It needs Python 3.9 or newer from python.org.

Safe by design

Every release is signed. The installer and Bookkeeper's Check for updates both check that signature, and refuse anything that doesn't match.

Your books stay on your own computer. They're encrypted, and they open only with your password.
